I didn’t discover I was a skilled carpenter until I was in my 40s. For over 25 years, alcohol addiction and mental illness robbed me of my goals, my peace, and my purpose. That changed when I picked up woodworking. The cedar sawdust, the hands-on craft — it grounded me. It healed me.
It led me to create something greater than myself: a fire starter that’s more than just a product — it’s a spark of connection. From my garage in Saskatoon, we handcrafted the first Clem & Simms fire starter — made with pure Canadian Cedar and Beeswax.
